What the rule requires

Every marketplace seller has been through a know-your-trader check since February 2024, and buyer-facing seller details appear on listings. No app is needed; the obligation sits with the marketplace and the seller supplies documents.

Who it binds: Online marketplaces, which must collect and verify name, address, bank account, trade-register number and a self-certification from every trader before letting them sell, and must show traders' details to buyers. For a shop this applies when it sells on Etsy, Amazon, eBay or any other marketplace.
