About

Mercatlas is a reference dataset on EU e-commerce compliance: the rules, the platforms, and the apps that sit between them.

Why it exists

Every EU rule that reaches an online shop produces the same three questions: what exactly does it require of my store, does my platform already handle it, and if not, what exists to handle it and does anyone actually use it. The marketplaces answer the last question one listing at a time and never over time. The regulators answer the first in legal language. Nobody answers the middle one at all. This site puts the three next to each other and keeps them current.

Who runs it

Disclosure

The operator's own apps appear in this dataset. They are listed with the same data, the same tagging rules and the same ranking as every other app, and each is marked "related to the operator" wherever it appears. They are:

The free store check linked from regulation pages is also operated by Universal Exporters LLC. Research pages on this site do not sell anything; where a service is offered it sits in its own section and says so.

Independence

No vendor pays for placement in the data tables. If sponsored listings are introduced they will be labelled as such on the row and will not affect ranking. No display advertising runs on research pages.
