What the rule requires

Electronics need a WEEE registration number per country and the crossed-out bin symbol; batteries need registration, labelling and, from February 2027, a digital battery passport for larger industrial and EV batteries. Registration is per country and usually needs an authorised representative for foreign sellers.

Who it binds: Anyone placing electrical equipment or batteries on the market in an EU country, including distance sellers from abroad, who must register with the national authority (Germany: stiftung ear) and finance take-back.
